Out of the Cold, was in need of help with a dog. Little Gino was sadly left alone after his owner unexpectedly died. Within the hour, Gino was safe, warm, clean, and resting comfortably at PAWS. As Gino settled in for a much needed nap, our next emergency intake arrived.
Hal O’ Ween was no longer wanted for breeding and was abandoned at a local kennel.
Soon after, 6 cats from our friends at Huntingdon County Humane Society got settled into one of our cat rooms.
This is the reality of the day-to-day operations at Centre County PAWS, though October has been a particularly busy month for us here at PAWS. This month, PAWS opened our doors to 101 homeless cats and 30 homeless dogs. Of these, 113 were not spayed or neutered, but will be before their ultimate adoption. Most needed some level of medical care beyond the basics of vaccines, microchips, and flea treatment. For example, many kittens came to us battling intestinal parasites and upper respiratory infections. Many of the senior dogs and cats will need urgent dental work.
