When did you start volunteering at PAWS?

February 2019

What jobs/roles have you performed at PAWS?

Dog care, dog fostering, pet partnering

What do you currently do as a volunteer?

I'm usually floating around the different dog-care shifts or training a pet partner. When I can love to take a dog on a hike or a sleepover!

Why do you volunteer at PAWS?

I can't commit to adopting a cat or dog at the moment, and PAWS gives me my animal-fix. I'm always looking to learn and I've had the privilege of working with some very talented volunteers, staff and trainers who really enriched my knowledge of animal behavior.

When you're not at PAWS, what do you like to do with your time?

Aviation and spaceflight are my passions, and I enjoy reading and watching documentaries. I love running, hiking and camping, but usually when it's a little warmer out!

What do you like best about being a PAWS volunteer? What do you find to be the most rewarding?

There's nothing like seeing a dog you were working with overcome some obstacles and find the perfect furever home. It's always bittersweet to see them go, but when you see how happy they are in their new homes and you know they're getting the love and attention they deserve it's all worth it.

If someone asked you why they should volunteer at PAWS, what answer would you give?

Volunteering can suit you no matter what kind of day you're having. If you need to burn off some energy, you can take a dog on a run (or sometimes have the dog take you on one!) If you want to sit and cuddle with an animal for a while you can do that too; they are filled with nothing but love. You get to work with passionate, selfless people along the way. When I joined the team at PAWS I knew it was the best decision I had made in years.
