When did you start volunteering at PAWS?

It's been almost exactly 2 years.

What jobs/roles have you performed at PAWS?

Floor Volunteer, Cat Care, Intake Team member, Cat Hugger (that's not a real role, but I do it anyway).

What do you currently do as a volunteer?

I am Head Floor Volunteer, which means that in addition to greeting the public and helping them find a furrever cat, I also get to train new Floor Volunteers.  I also do cat care and am a co-shift leader with Lynn for the amazing Wednesday evening crew.  I have also joined the intake team, but I don't get to do that as much as everything else.  And, I'm kind of an honorary med team member sometimes which is really cool.

Why do you volunteer at PAWS?

It is like therapy to me.  It's a place that I can go to give back, to de-stress, and to spend time with cats!

When you're not at PAWS, what do you like to do with your time?

There is time outside of work and PAWS?   I like to hang out with my friends, and my own cats.  I am also a big PSU football and Penguins hockey fan.

What do you like best about being a PAWS volunteer? What do you find to be the most rewarding?

I love interacting with the cats.  If I'm having a bad day, I just go in to PAWS and hug a cat or two.  I also really love the people that I've met through volunteering.  They are amazing!

If someone asked you why they should volunteer at PAWS, what answer would you give?

It is just a terrific place.  The people are great and the animals are great.  There isn't anywhere better!
