Brief description of what you do at PAWS

Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility for both animals and humans. Assist volunteers and the general public when needed.

Years with PAWS

2.5

Your pets at home

Chaco, Champion, and Silly (foster girl). All three are pit-types and are perfect in their own unique ways. Chaco is from a shelter in Virginia, and we've had him since he was 12 weeks old. Champ and Silly are both from PAWS! Champ is my soul-dog: we were made for each other, and what he lacks in brains and limbs (he is a tripod) he makes up for in emotional intelligence. Silly is the sassiest, toughest little princess you will ever meet. She is continuing to thrive despite a terminal medical condition (but shhh...she doesn't seem to be aware that she is supposed to be ill). My dogs are my family and are like kids to my husband and me.

Thing most proud of about time at PAWS

Earning the trust of Silly, who was absolutely terrified when she first came to PAWS. Working with animals that are frightened or shy and seeing them relax and live the good life

What you can usually be found doing outside of work

Teaching English, reading Sci-fi and Fantasy, writing, snuggling my pit bulls, building LEGO sets, watching Star Wars

What is your perfect vacation

England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales!

Favorite book? Or read any good ones lately?

Always The Lord of the Rings. But Ready Player One and its sequel, Ready Player Two are what I'm working through now. I'm always captivated by how Sci-Fi and Fantasy teach readers about reality, the past, and the future.
