Centre County PAWS is pleased to introduce you to Diane Keller, another longtime volunteer who has recently surpassed 3,000 hours of volunteer service to the PAWS Adoption Center. Volunteers like Diane are the heart and soul of our organization who make it possible for us to care for and find homes for hundreds of cats and dogs every year. Here, Diane tells us about his experiences as a PAWS volunteer:
When did you start volunteering at PAWS?
I started volunteering at PAWS in Sept. of 2009.
What jobs/roles have you performed at PAWS?
The jobs I have performed are cat side shift leader, fostering, cat line duty, flyer distribution committee, pet partner.
What do you currently do as a volunteer?
Current jobs are shift leader on the Thursday morning shift, fostering cats and flyer distribution.
Why do you volunteer at PAWS?
Great organization that is helping our defenseless cats and dogs to get the medical help they need, to be cared for until they are adopted into a permanent, caring home.
When not at PAWS what do you do?
Enjoy reading, especially civil war history, scrap booking, making silk and dried wreaths and flower arrangements.
What do you like best about being a PAWS volunteer?
Fostering cats and kittens.
Most rewarding?
Providing a safe and clean environment for my fosters until they are adopted into a permanent, loving home. Also, being able to play with them and socialize them if needed. Also, giving them lots of hugs and kisses!
If someone asked you why they should volunteer at PAWS, what answer would you give?
Great satisfaction in helping our "critters" find a good home and have a great life.
