The PAWS team is excited to share that Catie P, with PAWS since 2020, has been promoted to the role of Assistant Medical Manager.  Catie is a crucial member of the PAWS Operations and Medical Teams. She has helped PAWS to grow into the organization it is today, and continues to seek every opportunity for our organization to provide better care to the animals who need us. A few highlights we'd love to share that show just how impressive Catie is are below.

  • Catie developed and presented Neonate trainings throughout 2025, securing safe foster homes for dozens of neonate kittens.
  • She adeptly manages PAWS' medical inventory and machine/instrument maintenance and serves as our primary contact with nearly all of PAWS' vendors. She always knows what's in stock, what's on backorder, what just went up in price, etc.
  • Catie is certified in Fear Free for Shelters, PA X-ray, and RECOVER CPR and has helped to make sure others at PAWS are certified as well. She has been pivotal in helping us move toward Fear Free care, especially with our cats.
  • Her implementation of our current feline foster check process has helped to prevent the spread of illness and outbreak at PAWS.
  • Catie serves as our primary medical contact when our Medical Manager is unavailable. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to any and all dog/cat care shift medical concerns; overseeing challenging and time-sensitive decisions related to quarantine/isolation of animals; helping our animal(s) as well as concerned volunteers, staff, trial adopters, and foster parents during medical emergencies; overseeing treatment and/or creating treatment plans for sick and injured animals; completing medical consultations for potential adopters of our medically special dogs and cats; leading compassionate discussion when medical euthanasia must be considered.
  • Last, but not least, Catie works each day with empathy and compassion for our animals and the people who care about them.

The importance of Catie's role with the PAWS Medical Team and organization as a whole cannot be overstated. We hope you'll join us in congratulating and thanking her for her hard work the next time you see her!
