How long have you been at PAWS?
I became a member of the PAWS family in 2010 when I first adopted Nutmeg but my son Parker and I started volunteering in January of 2011.
What's your favorite thing about PAWS?
PAWS is a place to go for critter therapy for many different opportunities. Though the visible volunteer tasks may be welcoming people at the front desk or scooping cat litter or walking dogs, it’s fun helping out the animals in many other ways such as assisting with Bingo or fundraising or marketing or working with information technology.
What's your favorite thing to do at PAWS?
Currently, I’m focused mainly on information technology work – keeping staff and volunteer computers working, fixing Animal Shelter Manager or Web site issues and doing behind-the-scenes work such as maintaining Google Groups and PAWS email addresses. Sneaking in some cat play time is definitely a close second favorite activity.
What are your favorite non-PAWS hobbies?
More critter therapy – but outdoors. I love hiking and nature photography and especially enjoy capturing pictures of Pennsylvania flora and fauna. I’m also fond of searching for and photographing Bigfoot. Though I’ve not yet gotten a clear picture, I believe that I’m close.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
What do you like to do in Centre County?
Where to start? There’s so much to do in Centre County and the area. I love Whipple Dam, Milbrook Marsh, drives on country roads, stopping at farm stands for fresh produce, all of the farmer’s markets and, on occasion, I visit Otto’s with friends and family for a beverage.
