PAWS October Volunteer of the Month: Kathe Craig

October 13, 2017

Kathe Craig recently logged over 3,000 hours volunteering with PAWS, which earns her a feature in our newsletter and our blog! We asked Kathe some questions about herself and her time with PAWS!

How long have you been at PAWS?
9 years. My first volunteer assignment was at the door of Pet Extravaganza with Ginger Vierck, who was a relatively new volunteer, too.

What's your favorite thing about PAWS? It’s hard to pick only one favorite thing about PAWS. It’s my second home. People care about the animals and about one another. We all do our part to match the dogs and cats to their forever homes.

What's your favorite thing to do at PAWS? I’ve done many things at PAWS, from editing Paw Prints, the now-retired print newsletter, cleaning and acting as a Floor Volunteer on the Cat Side, and even assisting at a few spay/neuter clinics. I guess the one I like the most is fostering kittens. Fosters help us save more animals and the kittens keep me and my older cats young.

What are your favorite non-PAWS hobbies? I take tap dancing and Broadway Jazz at Kennedy Dance Centre and occasionally ride a horse named Toby at Jodon’s Slab Cabin Farm.

What's your favorite book? Not sure I have a favorite book, but my two favorite authors are my father, Joseph F. Hannan and Stephen King.

Where's your favorite place to vacation? I love Seaside Park, NJ (“down the shore) any time of the year. My family vacationed there as often as we could. My sister Eileen and I still love to go there, though we are long overdue for a visit.
