Meet Papas, a handsome, playful, and unique 4-year-old jet-black mini panther who is looking for his perfect home! Papas is a loving and affectionate cat who enjoys spending time with people, preferring to lay near them and enjoy their company as opposed to climbing in their lap. He also loves to play (both with people and independently) and finds string toys to be nearly impossible to resist.
When Papas came to PAWS, he did not have a good grasp of how to consistently behave appropriately with his human friends, so he stayed in his own room, working hard with volunteers and staff to learn how to be a very good boy. He eventually “graduated” into a foster home where he has further developed into an affectionate, but still sometimes spirited cat. Papas is very loyal to his foster human, and tolerates her dog and other cats.
Papas has cerebral hypoplasia (CH), a motor coordination deficit that causes him to wobble back and forth when walking, eating, playing, and using his litter box. He sometimes falls over, but he determinedly picks himself back up, dusts himself off, and starts walking again. He is unstoppable!
Papas may sometimes need a little help cleaning up if he has a balance issue while he is using his litter box. And Papas will be safest in a home where he does not have access to stairs and a good portion of the space has carpet or rugs so he has increased traction. He will likely be ok with some other animals, but would probably feel most welcome and comfortable in a home with no small children.
