Meet Marcia Holsinger, our November Volunteer of the Month!

When did you start volunteering at PAWS?

I started in May of this year (2016).

What jobs/roles have you performed at PAWS?

I do the Front Desk and I help with Dog Floor, mostly on Sundays.

Why do you volunteer at PAWS?

I enjoy the interaction with the volunteers and working with the dogs. I lost my dog in April and I was looking for somewhere to be around dogs and animals. That’s why I like Floor Volunteering, so I get to interact with the dogs. I get my kitty fix at home with my cat.

When you’re not at PAWS, what do you like to do with your time?

I like to read. I also sell antiques on Ebay. I go to yard sales and auctions to look for things to sell. I like to visit my son in Dover, Delaware. I’m retired from Mount Nittany Medical Center.

What do you like best about being a PAWS volunteer? What do you find to be the most rewarding?

I love seeing the dogs and cats being adopted. It’s great seeing them off to their forever home, especially if I helped introduce someone to the dog. I also like to see how well they’re taken care of here.

If someone asked you why they should volunteer at PAWS, what answer would you give?

It’s rewarding that you’re volunteering for such a good cause. And it’s fun to meet new volunteers!
