PAWS September Volunteer of the Month: Alysha Kronz

Volunteer of the Month Alysha Kronz
September 12, 2017

Meet Alysha Kronz, our PAWS Volunteer of the Month for September!

When did you start volunteering at PAWS?

I started at PAWS at the beginning of this past June.

What jobs/roles have you performed at PAWS?

I volunteer for the dog side, which means I walk and play with the dogs a lot. About a month ago I started as a Pet Partner for one of the dogs, Mowgli. This means I am able to spend some time with him one on one trying to teach him tricks, to walk better, etc.

What do you currently do as a volunteer?

I currently spend most of time volunteering on the dog side and spend a significant amount of time working with Mowgli as his Pet Partner.

Why do you volunteer at PAWS?

I started at PAWS because I love animals and I thought it would be a fun way to spend my extra time. I ended up loving being a volunteer not only because it is so much fun playing with the dogs, but you also get a wonderful group of people volunteering. It's always a fun way to end your day because you never have a bad shift.

When you're not at PAWS, what do you like to do with your time?

I am a senior at Penn State, so I am putting a lot of time into my school work. I am hoping to continue my education in law school at Penn State next year.

What do you like best about being a PAWS volunteer? What do you find to be the most rewarding?

I love playing with the dogs and trying to make them as happy as they can be at the shelter. I think the most rewarding thing is seeing the dogs improve and finding their forever homes.

If someone asked you why they should volunteer at PAWS, what answer would you give?

PAWS is a very special place, that you will fall in love with once you start volunteering. You get to play with all the animals and help them learn tricks, take them on walks, and just spend time with them. If that wasn't enough, you also get to spend time with a wonderful group of people who truly care about the animals.
